Tom himself was following a tradition, as his father was in the Navy. He joined the Navy with his brother Ron, who did not stay in but never the less was a Navy man too.
His brother Jim was in the Army. The first picture is of him in August 1957 at Fort Polk,Louisiana and the second of Tom and his brother Jim at home in Wisc. on leave.
I guess the following years after the Navy led to alot of young people looking up to Tom, as his middle daughter married a Navy man
and each of my first three daughters married Navy men. The Fourth daughter, Shera-Le, always looked up to Tom and felt that he WAS her Daddy and thus at the age of 19, she too went into the Navy. At the age of 30 she is now married to the man beside her, yet ya guess it...LOL...he is in the Army. Though always not seeing eye to eye, now what mother in law sees eye to eye with that tall of a man. He loves our daughter and has given her four beautiful girls.
Our son Bill is in the Navy at present time. He spent most of his life with the dream that he would one day follow in his Dad's foot steps and be a career man, That is yet to be seem but he did join and has made us real proud of him. The hardest part of the whole thing is that he has been gone for two years and we have only seem him 3 times. That was then, this is now. Bill is our and living in Orlando with his wife, who he met in Japan, while stationed with the Navy.
Our son-in-law, Ron, is in the Army.
From what we hear he also is doing a fine job. Though our lines seem to run in the Navy, we are still very proud of Ron as they are all out there for the same thing. To keep our country free and safe. Ron had to return home after finding out he had crones. We pray everyday that someone finds help for this.
