Happy Fathers Day

"Motto-Mania

You will notice that the scripture verse is missing from this issue. That's because we've started searching for a new Youth Corps Motto for the 1998/99 calendar year. Here's what you do! -

Choose a verse of scripture which you think is motivational and inspiring for young people.

Write back in the blank scroll on the front cover of the times and deposit it into the bubble in the Boy's Hall. Make sure you put your name on it!

Groups & individual entries are encouraged. June 14 is voting day! The winner(s) to be announced at our "Let's Play Ball Event". The winning entry will receive a party sice pizza to share with family or friends.

We also welcome Heather & Bram Dean as well as Tim Sharp who are members of Woodroffe Temple's "Turning Point". We hope to add more youth from Woodroffe to our Email group.

Kiwanis Festival

Since our last publication, eight of our young people were involved in the Kiwanis Music Festival. Congratulations to Emily Ewing, Earl Sacrey, Tawnya Shields, Martha Ewing, Rachel Ewing, Amanda Leach, Sarah Ewing, and Kelly Reid for performing in the various piano classes so well. Special applauses goes to Rachel and Sarah, whom both were entered into play-off trophy classes. Rachel won the Denne Award and Sarah wom the Cheatle Award. Sarah was also nominated to take part in the Provincial Kiwanis Music Festival. Keep up the good work young people and we look forward to hearing you perform in the future.

New Directions

Congratulations to Wendy Turner. Wendy has been accepted to the Salvation Army College for Officer's Training in Toronto. Also ... farewell to Jessica & Angela. We will miss you but know we can keep connected by Email.

Thank you to Sunday School Teachers, Jo Anne Leach and Glenn Calderwood. Jo Anne and Glenn will not be teaching a class in Sunday School Next year. We wish them all the best as they follow the Lord's leading in future endeavours.

Thanks to the Corps Family for constant prayer and support. I have made a career move which will require more work hours. Effective June 28, I will be resigning my position as YPSM. I will "keep connected" with our Email group and work alongside Murray & Greg on the Temple Times in the next Sunday School Year.

"Fan the Flame" - All Ontario Youth Councils 1998
May 16 - May 18, University of Guelph, Ontario

There were approxiamently 600 delegates from Corps all over the province. Our musical guests included ROX, HOTHOUSE (from Ontario South), REGARDING BOOTH (from Kingston) and Peterborough's CRIMSON REFLECTION. WARREN HALSTROM (from Vancouver) was also a special musical guest.

Our guest spiritual leaders for the weekend were Majors Chick and Margaret Yuill and Phil Wall.

Activities included a concert featuring both HOT HOUSE and WARREN HALSTROM (both were really really good), a "motivational media" with R.O.X. which featured games, testimonies, songs and videos. For the games several people from each Division competed. These were harmless, fun games such as SURFING & SUMO WRESTLING. I should explain at this point that I was a spectator - not that there was anything wrong with wearing a huge plastic suit in hot weather!! Of course, Ontario East won the games!!!!

Romans 12: 1-2 tells usto "no longer be conformed to the world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds". Youth Councils , I think, managed to convey that message to all who attended.
