From the "North" ... end to Peterborough's Salvation Army Family Services Dept. & Children's Aid Society |
At a time of year when most children send their letters north, it is indeed a pleasure to send a letter from the north end to a very special group of Santa's Helpers located in Peterborough. We are pleased to host "Santa's Sleigh Program". Many local children receive gifts on Christmas day due to this joint venture.
How does it work? Unwrapped toys are placed into Santa's sleigh, then they are donated by shoppers and community groups who make this their Christmas goodwill effort. Don't know what to buy? Well drop by the table at the Center Court sleigh area and ask the on-duty volunteer to give you a card bearing a child's name & age. Financial donations are also gratefully accepted!
Each agency has a representative pick the toys up daily (thanks Gleen & Charlie). The toys are then taken to "Toy Centres" where they are prepared for delivery to that "special someone".
On behalf of the young people who are at the final stop - the receiving end, I want to say thank you to both agency Directors - Darlene Carr, S.A. & Tanya Nani, C.A.S. for the "time rather than dollars" that you, your staff & volunteers spend in our mall each year!

May the star that shone in triumph
O'er the manger where Christ lay,
Be your guiding light to happiness
This blessed Christmas Day.
May each gift exchanged with fondness,
As a token of your love,
Bring rememberance of the blessed gift
God sent from heaven above.
So the gentle Christmas spirit may
As Yuletide days depart,
Leave a glow of everlasting joy
To linger in your heart.
