DeVern Bender

(Born: August 15, 1886, Lenox, New York

(Died: January 13, 1978, Chittenango, New York)

Son of: George Pieterse Bender and Clara Aldora Carpenter

Brother to: Daniel, Floyd, Stewart H., Erving E., and Walter R. Bender

Occupation: Postal Clerk

CHITTENANGO - DeVern Bender, 91, of 429 Race St., died Friday at Oneida City Hospital after a short illness.

Born in the Town of Lenox, Mr. Bender lived in the Chittenango area all his life. He was a retired postal clerk for the U. S. Postal Service in Chittenango.

Mr. Bender was a member of First Presbyterian Church and served on various church boards for many years. He was a member of Sullivan Lodge 148, F&AM, the Royal Order of Moose of Oneida and past master of the Chittenango Grange.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Spiers Bender; and several nieces and nephews. (See Death Notice)

BENDER

DeVern Bender, 91, 429 Race St., Chittenango. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Tyler-Traub Funeral Home, 115 Genesee St., Chittenango, with the Rev. William Elliott Jr. officiating. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church memorial fund.
