Services Held For Edward Stephany, 81
Services were held Thursday, Sept. 3, at 9 a.m., in St. Louis Church, Pittsford, for Edward Stephany, father of Alfred J. Stephany, operator of Hotel Stephany, 35 No. Main St., Pittsford. Mr. Stephany died Monday, Aug. 31, at the age of 81, after a long illness. Interment was in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Mr. Stephany, a retired sheet metal worker, assisted his son in the hotel business up to six years ago, when he became ill. He was a familiar figure to Pittsford residents.
Born in Rochester, he attended St. Michael's School. Before going into the sheet metal business, he operated a hardware store in Clinton Ave. No. at Sellinger St., for about seven years. Following that he was employed for about 20 years by Callister & Son, at their sheet metal shop in Main St. W. He left there to operate his own business until his retirement about 20 years ago.
He was a member of St. Louis' Church and took active interest in church affairs.
Besides his son, he is survived by his wife, Anna; two daughters, Mrs. Edna Esker of Pittsford and Mrs. Myrtle Ruffing of Columbus, O.; a brother George, and a sister, Mrs. Carrie Wahl of Rochester; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
