Smith - Bender - Before a gathering of some hundred guests, in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Erving E. Bender, No. 1259 Lyell avenue, Miss Marjorie Olive Bender was married last evening at 8 o'clock to Carl Frederick Smith, of this city. Rev. William E. LaRue, minister of the Lyell Avenue Baptist Church, conducted the ceremony. Pink and white predominated in the floral and other appointments. The rooms of this commodious home, which stands in large grounds, lent themselves admirably to the setting for the wedding. Bride and groom were united in a floral bower effected by palms, smilax and pink and white blossoms.

An orchestra played the wedding march from "Lohengrin" for a processional. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Elsie M. Bender, as bridesmaid, and the groom by Elmer Pagels, as best man. Little Jean Davis, niece of the bride, was flower girl. The bride wore a gown of blue and gray Canton crepe trimmed with steel beads and carried a shower bouquet of Ophelia roses. She wore a bracelet presented to her by the groom and her hair ornament was a pin set with brilliants. The bridesmaid also was in Canton crepe, her gown being blue embroidered with steel trimming, and she carried a bouquet of pink roses. The flower girl wore a frock of white organdie and a wreath of white carnations, carrying a basket of white roses in which was the wedding ring. Mrs. Bender, the bride's mother, was gowned in black messaline. After the marriage ceremony, Harold Stoll played as a violin solo, "Mighty Lak a Rose."

Decorations for the bride's table, like the others, were of pink and white, all the setting having been arranged by Mrs. Margaret McQuaid, who is a friend of the bride. A floral basket was the centerpiece.

Among those present from out of town were Mrs. L. DeNero, of Canastota, grandmother of the bride; Mrs. Anna Sackett, of Fairport, grandmother of the groom; Mrs. Michael DeNero, of Canastota; Mr. and Mrs. Louis DeLong, of Waterloo; Miss Frances Wohlheiter, Miss Amy McKechin and Miss Helen Perreaud, all of Bath, and graduates of the Wilhelmina Hospital, Rochester; Miss Lenora Longsdorf and Herbert Munns of Canandaigua; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Batzel and Mr. and Mrs. William Batzel, Mr. and Mrs. George Sackett and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sackett, all of Honeyoe Falls, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sackett, of Fairport.

The bride's gift to her bridesmaid was a bar pin, and she gave her flower girl a gold piece. The groom gave his best man gold cuff links.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith are on a motor journey to Niagara Falls, Toronto and other points in Canada, and will spend part of their honeymoon on a boat on the St. Lawrence river. After October first they will be at home at No. 209 Exchange street, where a furnished home awaits them.
