about me

I am 18 years old and graduated high school June 3rd, 2001! I love listening to music and dancing, swimming, going to concerts, and hanging out with my friends (in short, typical teenage stuff). I was a member of my church's Youth Commission from 1998 - 2001, and was a Peer Leader for the 2000 and 2001 confirmation classes; I played second flute in the high school concert band, and was an editor of Euphony (the school's literary and art magazine). Right now I work at Victory Stables, Inc. and the GAP. I used to be a Starbucks Coffee Barista. My confirmation class was the first in my town to participate in the Children of Churnobyl Project and I think it's become a tradition! It's a great program, check out the Ohio site here: http://www.chernobyl.org/whoweare.htm

I love horses, and have been riding and showing huntseat for six years at Victory Stables, Inc. Last season (2000) I showed Varsity Blues in Hunter Pleasure, Novice Hunter, and some huntseat equitation flat classes (Maiden-Limit). I am also in charge of the VS website, so go look at it! :c) I used to volunteer at a therapeutic riding stable (disabled children) which was a lot of fun and a great experience. I used to hang around all day to help and ride, and went as often as possible. I attended the MA 4H Horse Camp in Spencer in 1998 (I rode Ebony) and "The Ranch" in Lake Placid, NY in 1999 (I rode Beau!!). Alas, I do not have my own horse or pony. I do have an awesome dog though. I made him his very own page.

Since I'm all done with school, I'm no longer listing my classes or the books I read! I will once I get to college though. I recommend the Harry Potter series. You may think it's for kids, but we read Book 1 for English IV this year and I ended up reading the other 3 books as well! The series will be 7 books long, and the 4th book is 740 pages, so get reading! ;-) The Perks of Being A Wallflower is also good. In High School, I was voted "Citizen of the Month" for the month of February 1999! (and when I cleaned my room I found out I was citizen of the month back in 6th grade as well!) I am a 2000 "Local Honoree" for the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards for the time I spent volunteering at 2 therapeutic riding programs and retraining a pony for one. I'm also a MA Dept. of Education 2001 Certificate of Mastery recipient. I'm considering becoming a canine nutritionist and/or animal behaviorist, so I'll probably major in Biology. I'm also interested in photography and graphic design, and I like teaching. I am going to the University of Rochester in the fall of 2001!
