Unidentified Jolletts

On this page you will find JOLLETTs that we have found in various documents such as wills, deeds, and census records. However, we cannot connect them to any of our known families. The information here is all we know. We invite other Jollett researchers to help us find their families.

  1. Judy Jollett married William Cave in Orange County, VA, on November 22, 1791. James Jollett is listed as the bondsman although no relationship is indicated. Mary is listed as her mother. The dates would suggest that she could possibly be James’ sister. Since no father is listed, apparently her father was dead.

  2. Columbia Jollett has appeared in a family chart as one of the children of James Franklin Jollett and Lucy Ann Shiflett Jollett of Greene County, VA. However, obituaries refer to “nine children.” If Columbia is their daughter, that would make ten. Another reason to believe she is not their daughter is that our mother does not remember her and she knows that given how close the Jollett sisters were, had Columbia been one of them, she would have known her or known of her.

  3. Mary JOLLETT Forrester was born in Virginia in 1750 and married John Dogens Forrester in 1768 when she was18 years old. They moved from Culpepper County, VA to Wilkes County, NC probably around 1780-1790. They had nine children, the first named Fielding. After 1810 they moved to Robertson County, Tennessee. John Dogens Forrester died there in 1815. The next we hear of them they are in White County, Illinois right after 1820 where they stayed. Mary Jollett Forrester filed for a widow’s pension (Revolutionary War R3668) about 1847 and she died around 1848.

  4. Tabatha Jollett appears in the 1850 census for Greene County, VA. She might also be the “T. Jollett” listed in the 1860 census for McMullans in Greene County, VA.

  5. Sophia Jollett married Cuthbert Norman in 1791. James Jollett was bondsman. Therefore, perhaps Sophia and James were brother and sister. George Eve was minister.

  6. Susannah Jollett married James Briant in 1782.

  7. Elizabeth Jollett was the daughter of John and Mary Jollett of Frederick County, VA. Elizabeth married John Thomas Mills on October 12, 1895, in Winchester, VA. He was the son of Sandy and Matilda Mills.

  8. Luraina Jollett or Luncina Jollett married Robert Bryan on Jan. 14, 1839. Bondsman was Jeremiah Walker.

  9. Francis Jollett, born sometime in the 1860's, was raised in a Catholic orphanage in Orange County, New York. His sons were Raymond, Clarence, Edmond, and Eugene.

  10. George F. Jollit served in the Confederacy during the Civil War. Maybe he is a relative; maybe not.

  11. James Jollett, Sr. appears in the 1820 census for Barren County, Kentucky.

  12. James Jollett, Jr. appears in the 1820 census for Barren County, Kentucky.

  13. Endora Jollett

  14. "Annie Found"was a baby left on the doorstep of one of the Jolletts, maybe John Jollett or James Franklin Jollett, but this story is not definite. One of the questions to pursue is whether she is the illegitimate daughter of a Jollett boy.

  15. John Jollitt arrived on the Tristram & Jane out of London in 1637.

  16. Thomas Jolet appears in the list of receipts in the estate of Thomas Stanton May 23, 1745 in Orange County, VA.

  17. William A. Jollett is listed as one of the buyers at the estate sale for William Henry April 10, 1809 (Orange County Will Book 4, pages 337-343).
