Merry Christmas! This year JB really began to understand the specialness of this season. This year he began to realize that there is more to the gift of Christmas than presents under the tree and a fat man sliding down the chimney.JB enjoyed the Advent Wreath and the Jesse Tree this year. The Advent season has always been a special season to us. In my family we always celebrated the Advent Wreath and Jesse Tree each and every night throughout Advent. My Mom would lead us through the devotions. This always gave us a special time of reflection the the gift God gave us through his son, Jesus Christ. I have continued that tradition in our home. Greg and I now lead JB in Advent devotions. He is learning about Christ with eagerness and looked forward to lighting the candles and celebrating Advent each night. On Dec. 6 JB placed his yellow rainboots under the Christmas tree with great anticipation. He could hardly wait to get home from school that day. We weren't sure if Saint Nicholas or Knecht Ruprecht would come; but, St. Nicholas was the one. He said that JB had been mostly good all year and was glad to fill JB's boots for him.On Dec. 18 we all had a very good time at Doc and Sarah's Christmas party. JB enjoyed playing with the other children there. The Eriksen's had really gone out of the way to make it a magical evening. I think they had one of every kind of food imaginable. The evening was shadowed by the discovery that Dr. Columbo had passed away the week before. He was 32 years old and had been on the Atkin's diet. He will be greatly missed. The Christmas program at church was during morning services on Dec. 19. It was beautiful and very touching. We had poinsettias placed at the altar for Briggsie, Uncle Austin and Grandpa Lundy.Christmas Eve we all went to the candlelight service at church. JB wore his pajamas and fell asleep during the service. He had put out cookies and Pepsi for Santa at home. JB also placed magic oats in the front yard for Santa's reindeer. While he was asleep I placed a baby doll in swaddling clothes beneath the tree to remind us all of the child whose birth we were celebrating. Santa enjoyed the cookies and Pepsi. Christmas morning JB was eager to open his presents. We had a very happy celebration together. Greg and I were proud of JB. He immediately knew who the baby was under the tree. That afternoon we celebrated with the Lausman bunch. JB loved seeing all of his Uncles and, of course, Nana and Pops. Santa Chris came to visit once again. JB was not thrilled. He hid under the table. We all had a wonderful Christmas. We hope you did too.
