Maxfield Parrish (1870-1966) was one of the greatest painters and illustrators of the 20th century. His works are marked by masterful depiction of figures and landscapes. The vibrant colors he used give his works an otherworldly aura. In addition to his paintings, his works were used in print ads and in illustrations for children's books. Although he worked well into the 20th century, Parrish's style has its roots in the Pre-Raphaelite style of the 19th century.
