My Great grandfather Lorenzo(Lawrence)Biondo was born in Nicosia in 1862 and married Maria Malagrotta around 1885 probably in Nicosia. Lorenzo left Italy in 1886 on the Polcevera ship and landed in New York. He moved to Philadelphia and in his wife came to USA around 1887. Their children were Josephine, Michael, Anna, Florence, Julia (all born in Philadelphia). His son Michael married Rosa Maria Cella in Philadelphhia. Rosa was born in Rezzoaglio, Genova.

Since I signed your guestbook earlier in the year I have found that my grandmother's father was named Antonio Guinta. He married Domenica Bonarrigo. My grandmother Anna was their first born. The family story was that he was a policeman who died from a fal
off his horse. Ironically, his son Filippo, who had immigrated to Chicago, also was a policeman (in McHenry, IL) who died in an accident while driving a motorcycle. Both were supposedly on duty at the time of death.
I want to offer to do lookups for anyone seeking ancestors from Nicosia from 1821 - 1865. I have LDS films on indefinite loan for births, marriages and deaths. I also have Chicago Catholic church records for Old St.Johns, Santa Maria Incoronata, and All S

Glad to see a site for Nicosiani. My mother's parents were from Nicosia - Antonio LaBarbers and AnnaSanta Guinta. We know that Antonio's parents were Felice LaBarbera and Maria (Bonomo?); and that AnnaSanta's parents were Fillipo Guinta and Domenica Bouna
rigo. An elderly aunt just remembered that Antonio had 7 brothers who were all put into an orphanage when Felice LaBarbera died and Maria went to a convent! Have no idea if it's true. The only brothers we were aware of were Bartolomeo and Giuseppe (Joe) w
o had a a twin Fillipo who died at birth. Anyone aware of the family and this history? They were all born after 1865 when the records at the LDS Family History Center end. Antonio and Anna were in Chicago for the 1900 census.
