These groups have different philosophies and ideas. Some
are religious (usually non-sectarian), but they even (:-)
help atheists - you won't be required to
"convert."
Most orgs can refer you to
change-friendly therapists and support groups, with local
branches nationwide. Many services are low-cost or free.
As
Homosexuals Anonymous states - and they all might agree -
they don't endorse or oppose any political causes, gay
organizations or movements. They do not engage in
arguments that draw members away from maturing their
relationships with those around them and rediscovering
their true identity.

National Association for Research
and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH)
16542
Ventura Boulevard, Suite 416
Encino, CA 91436
(818) 789-4440
http://www.narth.com
Provides referrals to change-friendly therapists
nationwide. Works "to provide psychological
understanding of the cause, treatment and behavior
patterns associated with the homosexual condition.
"Of
the whole range of sexual disorders, homosexuality is
probably the most misunderstood. During the last twenty
years, powerful political pressures have done much to
erode scientific exploration and study of this disorder.
Many researchers have been intimidated into trading the
truth for silence.
"As clinicians, we have
witnessed the intense suffering that homosexuality often
causes the individual. Tragic consequences result from
the psychological conflicts leading to homosexuality.
Anguish in the homosexual is compounded by distress
experienced by his or her family, friends and other loved
ones."
