My name is Yves Michaud and I was born on April 10, 1946 (baptized on April 12) in Saint-Basile, New Brunswick. My parents are Adrien Michaud, son of Joseph Michaud and Léonie Bérubé, and Fernande Picard, deceased, daughter of Auguste Picard and Emma Dallaire. I am the elder one of a family of 7 children, the other members being: Francine, Jean-Guy, Denis, Richard, Pierre and Marie.
I attended my primary and secondary studies in Rimouski. I continued my formation at the University Laval in Quebec city where I obtained an Arts degree in Geography in 1970.
I married in Rimouski, parish Saint-Pie-X, on July 14, 1972, Micheline Dumais, daughter of Charles-Eugène Dumais and Cécile Duchesne. A girl, Isabelle, was born from this marriage on November 14, 1975.
Since 1971, I am in charge of La Cartothèque (Map Library) at the Université du Québec à Rimouski.
These pages of genealogy are the fruit of several months of quest by my father Adrien. He searched at the Archives nationales du Québec and in the registers of marriage and burials of several parishes. I am to you grateful Adrien to have gone in the search of our ancestors and to have thus passed on a true indentity to us...
Historical
and descriptive information comes primarely from the notes collected by
Mrs Françoise Michaud-Dufresne.
She has undertaken intensive research on Pierre Micheau both in France
and in Québec. She has collected abundant information basing
herself on the study of numerous archival documents, including baptismal
records, marriage contracts, death certificates, land deeds, etc.
We will be always grateful to her.
