A Quick Intro . . .
The Moraine Tracking Club was established to promote the sport of tracking in the northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin area. We are a group of enthusiastic dog owners who enjoy the outdoors and working with our dogs. Many of our members participate in events other than tracking our dogs.

Check out
Member Titles to see what our dogs can do. Meet some of our members and their dogs and see them in action in our Gallery.

A Short Course in Tracking . . .

Tracking dogs are trained to follow the scent of any person. The sport is open to all purebred dogs. In American Kennel Club (AKC) tracking tests, dogs are required to follow tracks of various lengths and degrees of difficulty to find articles left behind the person who laid the track. Successful completion of the track by the dog and its handler results in the awarding of various tracking titles issued by the AKC.

To find out more about tracking, check out our Training Tips section. If you are interested in seeing a tracking test or wish to enter your dog, check out our Tracking Test Dates and entry forms. And, be sure to take a look at  What's a Tracking Test? for a comparison of the requirements for the three different kinds of tracking tests.

A new publication produced by Ed Presnall and Moraine Tracking Club is now available for use by other Clubs. The publication, a straight-forward presentation booklet developed to allow individual club members make presentations to universities, schools and business parks for approval as a VST site.

These booklets, only 20 pages each, have been designed to walk-through the test process and usage of land to give a simple overview of the sport to the site manager or landowner to help the Club secure new test sites.

These documents are not being placed into the public domain. All copyrights remain with the author. Moraine Tracking Club will approve other clubs to use these documents to assist their efforts in securing additional sites.
