I have not seen them molt yet but one of them moved into a different shell. I find them very interesting. The biggest one pinched me and believe me it doesn't feel very good. Now I'm being careful not to let it do that again.
My Hermit Crab
If you have any questions or comments or if you have any pictures of your crab or crabarium that you want to send me so I can put them on my page, please e-mail them to Blackkrow@hotmail.com.
Provide your crabs with a crabarium roomy enough for it to crawl around in. The substrait should be sand, crushed shells, or gravel. Make sure they can dig in it easily. It shound be about 2-3 inches deep. They need to have rocks, coral, or wood to climb on. By doing this they get their exercise that they need. But do not build the rocks and stuff up too hight because the crabs might climb out of the crabarium.
You can put their water in a non-metalic dish or a big clam shell works best. If you don't use a clam shell, be sure to put some shells in the water. This will add calcium to the water which the crabs need. The dish should be very shallow so the crabs cannot drown.
