In the book Stanley Lambchop is a perfectly
normal boy until one morning when he wakes up only
half an inch thick.Sometime while he was sleeping a
bulletin board fell on him and made him flat. His
parents peel the board off of him, but now Stanley
must adjust to life as "flat as a pancake".He is now
known as Flat Stanley. Flat Stanley takes this in
stride and soon he is enjoying the advantages of
squashedness. He can slide under closed doors and
find items dropped through narrow, metal
gratings.Plane fare is expensive, but now he has the
advantage of being folded up comfortably and put into
a brown paper envelope.Flat Stanley's true moment of
glory comes when a gang of thieves begin stealing
paintings from the famous Museum of Art. Case seems
hopeless until our two dimensional hero saves the
day. Here is one boy who doesn't let his profile
challenged body stop him from living life the way a
normal boy does. Reading on you will find that his
brother finds a way to help him become normal
again,like before the bulletin board
accident.Now we need to
explain that the background of this story has become
project for school children. Each student in a class
drew, cut out, designed their clothing and became an
image of themself. In 1998, Miss Becca and her class
became flat. They now picked someone special out to
be mailed to and participate in their everyday
comings and goings, including travel, vacation,
parties,doctor calls, hospital and postoffice
visits, holiday celebrations, etc. Any activity could
be reported back to student's teacher by postcard of
area visited and/or photographs. One day in the mail,
Uncle Chuck got a yellow flat envelope and inside was
FlatBecca. Now FlatBecca can travel in a yellow flat
envelope too and the stories she can tell! Here's a
picture of FlatBecca discussing with Katie how they
can flatten Kelsie, the dog. It seems Kelsie never
gets to go to places like St.Lucia, camping, trips to
Georgia because she is too big. If Kelsie were
FlatKelsie all of this could be arranged.
After all this traveling, Miss Becca has now returned
home, no longer flat and back to the person we have
known her as.
Now let me introduce you to Miss
Becca and her sister Miss Janna. 1998 Janna & Becca
all dressed up for a special musical
performance.Becca on the left, Janna on the right.
We are updating the Montana Skies which will tell you
more about Becca's family.(Soon)
