JOY CHRISTINE WIGGIN was born 28 Aug 1942, at home near Bridgeport, NE, just eleven months before the family moved to the Ozarks. Joy was named for a lady whose name was Christina Dugger, from Nebraska, one of the 60 families Mom delivered mail to on the Star Route.

"Christina Dugger was a character worth writing about. She was small in stature and when we knew her she always wore black. She wrapped a black scarf around her head, wore a black jacket, long black skirt and black high-topped buckle rubber boots. Said she was always cold.

"The stories behind this were interesting. One story was that one day her husband came home for lunch, it wasn't ready and she refused to fix it. He took her and dunked her head in the creek, which left her always feeling cold. Another story was that she was bitten by a rattlesnake that left her that way. Christina lived with her handy man, Jesse Utter for many years. We were invited to her farm for dinner one day when Joy was just a little baby. The children were treated so great by her and Jesse. When Jesse died it was told that she buried him in a bronze casket.

"Don't know where Christina acquired her wealth, but in her will she left a goodly sum for Mom and Joy. She adored little Joy, especially because she was named for her. However, the will was never carried out. A shyster attorney destroyed the will, claiming there never was one. Christina's nieces knew better, but were unable to prove it as there was but one copy of the will. In the end the attorney collected most of the money; heard he was later disbarred for this act."

Joy was always such a sweet child, never fussed and could entertain herself for hours. As a two-year old her favorite pastime was playing with the multitude of buttons in the button drawer on the sewing machine. When Joy was in her teens, she moved with her mother and sisters to Washington, to live near Helen and Bob when their son Raymond died in 1956.

Joy married Jim Wroughton in McCleary, WA and they had one son and two daughters. Jimmy, Jami, Jody Wroughton. Joy and Jim were divorced 28 Feb 1968.

Joy married Rick Lynch, 4 Mar 1968, in California where Rick worked as a restaurant manager. They have a daughter Michele. Rick adopted Jimmy, Jami, and Jody to become part of Joy and Rick's family. They moved to the Ozarks where Joy and Rick were busy as owner and manager in their restaurant business "RJ's", in Bentonville, AR.

In late 1993 Joy and Rick bought a full fledge restaurant in Bentonville. But this may have been the unduing of their relationship-they broke up after the first of the year in 1994. Joy was living in Independence, Mo. with Michele and her husband and baby Kaitlyn. Joy is finally a grandmother! In June 1994 Joy and Rick were reunited and reconciled their marriage.

In September 1994, their son Jimmy tragically died from an accidental gunshot wound. He was 35 years old--what a tragedy to Joy and to the family.
