The Bouvier was indeed bred to herd cattle. And is still a working herding dog of cattle as well as other animals all around the world. The Bouvier also herds differently then most herding dogs do. Most herding dogs will "nip" (bite) at the heels of the cattle to herd them, not the Bouv, a Bouvier instead throws it's body at the cow and "bumps" it back to the herd when it strays away.
