Our ancestors have been successfully traced back to the 1300's
The Descendants of Will & Hattie Bixby
from New Hampshire, USA to homestead.
They settled in Verdant Valley, AB.
which is located 90 miles northeast of Calgary, AB
Will referred to the area as a Verdant Valley
[meaning green with growing plants.]
Gradually everyone started referring to the area as a
Verdant Valley......thus the name stuck.

(Vera and Vernon were born in Verdant Valley, AB Canada.)
The only one of the original family still living is Vera.
In 1917 all of the family went back to the USA except for Fred.
He married Eva Agnes Goodkey on 13 May 1917 in Verdant Valley, AB
and most of the Alberta Bixby's have descended from them.
