"IN THE WIND"

The Need to Ride

Troublesome Burdens, Pains and Strains,
Cob-webbed clutter that sticks to your brain,
Like a cloud that envelops your very soul
And you run on foot, but always too slow
To shake the jellied, smothering goo,
While afoot , like a disease it sticks to you
And infects your being and affects your thought
To the depths of despair your freedom is brought.

Far behind me this cargo of pain I leave
As I close the gap of my leather sleeve
A fool, cause it's cold? insane cause it's raining?
Every second I wait....is a second to pain in !
When I straddle the leather my legs to be squeezing
The fears and the pressures they cause start to 'easing,
The thundering ROAR of wild horses explode,
As I open the throttle, and marry the road.

For the wind from heaven, God's breath, He lends me,
Overtakes my own and for a second it sends me,
To places where pain can finally leave,
Dumpin' a little more pain with each curve's weave
The feeling that comes from "kissing the wind",
Purges my soul, without and within,
No thoughts of my failures or feeble attempts,
Can catch me or cause me one single glimpse,

For the moment I own the wind in my face,
'tis the breath of the Father that I now embrace,
How long will I ride ? How far must I travel?
How long catching bugs? dodging dogs, cats and gravel?
How long kissing raindrops, like porcupine quills,
...As long as my soul no longer can feel....

When I join the steel for my final ride....
In heavenly air I then will abide...
No longer to ride where mortals have trod,
but, I'll ride to "The Source".....the breath of my GOD !
