Nunkirchen 1651. Stephan Detzler was listed as a novitius in a duty list of the village Nunkirchen/Saar near Trier in Germany. It's not known from where he came and where he died or even if he had descendents. At the same time, Cornelius Detzler lived in Dirmingen/Saar. He was father of two sons and his lineage is researched up today.

Today we find members of the Detzler Family in Germany, USA, Canada, Brasilia, Italy and UK. In the years about 1835 several Detzler's went to Amerika and Canada, where the most families with the name Detzler live today (together with them in Germany). One of them was Jakob Detzler, a descendent of Cornelius Detzler. He went to Ontario/Canada and died in Wilmot Township.

Cornelius DETZLER, +1716 Dirmingen/Saar

We don't know from where Cornelius DETZLER came. He was Waffenschmied in Dirmingen/Saar and died on 19-APR-1716 in Dirmingen/Saar. He had two sons, Jakob and Cornelius:

Jakob DETZLER was born in 1672 in Dirmingen/Saar, married on 2-OCT-1695 Anna-Barbara MUELLER in Ottweiler/Saar and died on 27-SEP-1731 in Dirmingen/Saar. They had 8 children, his occupation was Kühehirt. The father of Anna-Barabara was Valentin MUELLER, he was Jäger.

Cornelius DETZLER was born in 1673 in Dirmingen/Saar, married on 2-OCT-1695 Margaretha BRONDER in Ottweiler/Saar and died before 1757 in Dirmingen/Saar. They had 7 children, his occupation was Schäfer. He was also called Nilles DIEZLER.

Both were mentioned in the following documents:

in Berschweiler Nilles DIEZLER, der Schäfer

Verzeichnis der Haushalte vom 16. Juli 1707

In this source we have found an entry for a person from Exweiler (=Urexweiler) with the name DETZ:

DETZ Peter, schöne Vogtei, 1 Sohn bei ihm

Possibly this is another spelling for the name Detzler. Hints are highliy appreciated.
