DO NOT LET THE NICE MUSIC AND RHETORIC FOOL YOU INTO THINKING ALL INTERNET RELATIONSHIPS WORK OUT WITHOUT PROBLEMS.

RELATIONSHIPS

There are so many stories about bad relationships on the internet. But not all internet relationships have bad endings. I have met many wonderful people here. People who have helped support me through a very crucial time in my life.

My dad, MickeyEars, and his sister-in-law, LanaSmile, got me started on the net just as I was leaving my job to be a stay-at-home housewife. I was already having problems with depression and had resorted to prosac for help. I found a myriad of friends here who helped me through this bad time.

My first acquaintance in chatting was Sparkie43. She helped me cope with life a day at a time and continued to give me encouragement when I needed it. What a wonderful person she is.

My next online friend was a God send, Pat. We met quite by accident when I was surfing through her online garden. She has helped me through many difficult times with her gentle guidance. Her hubby, Joe, keeps me in stitches when I need a good laugh at myself. Pat has a special meditation place that has brought me peace at some very troubling times. Visit it if you have time. Mornin' Glory's Garden Then click on Meditation.

Then I found a wonderful, supportive man, Paul, who became my cyber brother on the chat channel. Over time we developed a very trusting relationship. Then I had the opportunity to meet Sparkie and Paul in Chicago. Unfortunately, Sparkie had to leave before my arrival, but the meeting with Paul went very well. So well, in fact, that we are now together.

I can't say that this has all been easy. I was at the end of a 20 year marriage where both parties had ceased to work to stay together. Paul is much younger than I, but this doesn't seem to be a problem with either of us. Learning to live together has had its ups and downs, especially as Paul helped me wean myself off of prosac. Being together in person is also much different than chatting online. Sometimes when I visit my daughter in St. Louis, Paul and I get to chat again. It is very easy to pour out your heart on a computer screen. It is very different to do that in person.

So what I want to say is this...if you find yourself trusting someone on the net, don't be hasty in making decisions that will affect the rest of your life. Think about what you are doing. Our relationship has worked so far, but not without consequences. I feel what I have done was worth it. And I only hope others can find the same happiness as I have.

Paul and I were married on September 29, 1998, and hopefully I will have some wedding pictures on here in the future. Since we are both interested in Civil War reenacting, we were married in period attire on the Antietam Battlefield. What a memorable ceremony.
