One year
or less
or so they say...
She'd give it all
for just one day
to laugh
to love
to live again
Without white walls,
tubes, machines,
pills and shots
lonely thoughts.
She smiles and laughs
for family and friends.
They both dread & hope
the day it ends.
Her strength she shows
although she knows
the pain is greater
each passing hour
colorful pills lose their magic power.
Survive she cries...
You can. You will.
Survive she cries
As she slowly dies.
