Marriage Bond of Mathew McDaniel and Jemima Black

20 March 1848






KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS That we Mathew McDaniel, William Kincade and John L. Shields are held and firmly bound unto the Commonwealth of Virginia in the just and full sum of 150 dollars to which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators jointly and severely firmly by these presents.

Witness our hands and seals the 20th day of March 1848.

The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas a marriage is shortly intended to be held and solomnized between the above bound Mathew McDaniel and Jemima Black daughter of Henry Black.

Now if there is no lawful cause to obstruct the said marriage then this obligation to be void else to remain in all force and virtue.

The written certificate was proved before me by William Kincade, a subscribing witness who also proved that the intention was for licens to Mathew McDaniel to intermarry with Jemima Black and for William Forsythe to intermarry with Margaret Black given under my hand this 20th March 1848.
