Developmental Landmarks
Day one - conception.
One week - attaches to wall of womb.
Two weeks - stops mother's menstrual period
Three weeks - heart is beating.
Six weeks - brain waves measurable, moves and responds to touch.
Eight weeks - heartbeat can be heard on stethoscope, EKG can be done, brainwaves were measurable two weeks ago, feels pain and responds to touch, sucks thumb, grasps instrument placed in palm, swims with natural swimmer's stroke.
Two one-half months - body completely formed, even fingerprints.
Three months - all organ systems functioning.
After three months - nothing new develops or functions. There is only growth in size and maturity.
