PEGGY'S PORCH

Pull up a chair and stay a while...

"Stay is a charming word in a friend's vocabulary." --Louisa May Alcott

I wish I could bring back the “good old days!” Actually, I’d like to bring back the ambiance of those earlier days when porch-sitting was high entertainment, when there was the time for cross-stitch and patchwork; when home represented a family haven, and the porch was a place where children and grandchildren could gather and listen to the older folks pass along folklore and tall tales.

Porches are as much a part of Southern culture as grits and sweet tea and our family is so fortunate to have both a front and a back porch! Our front porch shades us from Georgia’s hot, summer sun. With it’s hanging baskets and rocking chairs, it provides a welcoming entrance for visitors and friends. The back porch, screened on three sides, catches the afternoon breeze making the wind chimes, a gift on our 17th wedding anniversary, ring out a lovely, peaceful tune. It’s a favorite gathering place for our family of four and of course, our cat Pebbles, loves it too!

We are a career military family, currently assigned at Robins Air Force Base. We plan to retire soon and finally have a permanent home here in the Heartland of Georgia. These pages are to keep us in touch with family and friends who have touched our lives over the years and to give us a presence in the World Wide Web community.

Pour yourself a glass of iced tea (sweet of course, you're in the South!) and stay as long as you like... Enjoy yourself on the porch!
