Liam Pickering

Liam Pickering plays AFL Football for my favourite team Geelong and he is one of my favourite players.

He has had a slow start to the 1997 season due to injury, but then quickly established himself as one of the most efficient and hardest working on-ballers in the competition.

Liam finished the season as a very popular winner of Geelong's Best and Fairest award.

This was definately a high point in his career which looked like stagnating when North Melbourne axed him at the end of 1992. He has turned his career around at Geelong, winning acclaim from Malcolm Blight and later Gary Ayres for his work ethic and leadership skills. Liam enjoys following the horses and going to the pictures to relax. An all round sportsman, Liam is also a quality Cricketer and states that if he wasn't a professional footballer he would be a professional cricketer. He has represented Victoria at State Level in Cricket.

Liam was also Geelong's best player during the finals and was also voted best team player and most constructive player for 1997.
