From the Wor. Master

 

Dear Brethren:

I apologize for not getting a newsletter to you during the past two and a half months. We have been extremely busy at Harmony Lodge 22.

The officers have performed admirably with a number of new petitions, candidate coaching and degree work. We have literally had something going on every Thursday for the last several months.

At our annual Awards Banquet, Lori Wood was awarded the outstanding EMS Award which was presenter by W.B. Laurence Laughlin. Our Mason of the year Award was presented to two outstanding brothers, Junior Warden David Spears and P.M. Sonny Gay. They share this award. Last week we raised three brothers to the sublime degree of Master Mason. There is a Fellow Craft Degree in April for six more candidates.

On Thursday, January 18th, we conferred the Fellow-craft Degree on three brothers. The lecture was given by R W/Bro. Joe Guinta of Port Royal. Unfortunately, the crowd was small but enthusiasm high. It appears from the candidates and brother undergoing instruction that we will be conferring degrees through June. I sincerely hope you will come to Lodge.

The lodge has been draped since January in memory of Bro. David Kozak, P.M. and H.K. Snell.

Attendance has been good, and fortunately, all the lodges in the Fourth Masonic District are busy with degree work. Grand Lodge meets in Columbia on April 27th and all Master Masons are urged to attend as we elect a new Grand Master and slate of officers for the next two years.

There is a work day scheduled at the lodge on Saturday, March 31st. We hope you will come and help us get things spruced up and cleaned out for the spring months ahead.

It really warms my heart to see the enthusiasm exhibited by our new brothers and the proficiency they have attained. Our Senior and Junior Warden have both put on degrees and have done an outstanding job in both degree work and coaching.

I hope you will take the time to come to our degree work and see your officers perform. There are some picture included in this newsletter which will show you some of the crowds and activities of your lodge.

Worshipful Brother Kevin Ennis did an outstanding job as speaker for our St. John the Evangelist Day. We have reprinted in full the text of his speech so that each of you will have the chance to read it.

I look forward to seeing you soon in the lodge.
