Area Deaths Rosemary Burke Delmar, Iowa -- Services for Rosemary Burke, 91, of Delmar, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Delmar. The Rev. Ed Botkin will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Delmar. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. today at Haylock-O'Hara & Lahey Funeral Home, Maquoketa, with a Scripture service at 7 p.m. Mrs. Burke died Sunday, March 8, 1998, at Jackson County Public Hospital, Maquoketa, after an extended illness. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport, is in charge of arrangements. In earlier years, she taught at several rural Clinton County elementary schools. Rosemary Farrell was born Nov. 29, 1906, in Villa Nova, to James F. and Esther Louise (Farrell) Farrell. She married John J. "Jack" Burke on June 4, 1934, in Delmar. He died Oct. 11, 1975. They were widely known dairy farmers in the Delmar area for many years. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, where she was the church organist for many years. she also was a member of St. Patrick's Altar and Rosary Society, New Century Club, Jackson County Public Hospital Auxiliary, Dairy Herd Improvement and Holstein Breeders Association. She loved music, flowers, gardening, crocheting, card playing, reading, crossword puzzles and dogs. She and her husband, Jack, had traveled extensively. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include sisters-in-law, Marie Farrell, Delmar, and Mary Brown, Penn Yan, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews including, Patsey C. (Mrs. Kenneth L.) Farrell, Goose Lake, Donald R. and Jan Farrell and Gerald J. and Mary Farrell, all of Delmar, Judith M. Farrell, Marion, LuAnn (Mrs. Patrick F.) Farrell, Bryant, Michael L. Farrell and Dr. John F. and Frances Collins, all of Davenport, Mary M. (Mrs. Edmond R.) Noel, Wheatland, William E. and Virginia Collins, South Bend, Ind., Mary J. Collins and Sheila E. Collins, both of Minneapolis, E. Jean Reed and Paul J. and Grace Collins, DDS, all of Iowa City, and Richard J. and Karen Collins, DDS, Eldridge. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, J.A. "Tad" Farrell; and nephews Kenneth L. Farrell, Patrick F. Farrell and Craig A. Simmons.
