Clinton Everett L. Leonard Everett L. Leonard, 62, of 526 6th Ave. N., died Sunday in Jane Lamb Hospital. Mass of the Christian Burial will be said at 1 p.m. Tuesday in St. Patrick's Church, preceded by a prayer service at 12:30 p.m. in Delaney Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clinton Memorial Parck Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. in with a parish rosary recited at 7 p.m. Pallbearers will be Gregg Betts, Mike Munson, Donald Thiessen, Keith Klemme, and Dale and Thomas Torpey. Mr. Leonard was born Nov. 27, 1916, in Preston, to Irwin and Olive Simmons Leonard. He married Mildred Torpey July 17, 1944, in Fort Dix, N.J. He was a veteran of World War II, life member of the VFW, member of Amvets and Loyal Order of the Moose. He was employed the last 10 years as a guard at Nielsen's Clearing House. Survivors include his wife; a son, Eugene James, Annendale, Va.; two sisters, Mrytle Betts, Preston and Mrs. Ethel Marsh; and a granddaughter. Clinton Herald 29 Feb 1979 Mildred Leonard, 95, of Arlington, Va. Mildred Leonard, 95, of Arlington, Va., and formerly of Clinton, died Friday at the Sunrise Bluemont Nursing Facility in Virginia. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lemke Funeral Home, South Chapel, 2600 Lincoln Way, with the Rev. John Stack officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. She was born Feb. 12, 1909, in Lost Nation to William and Gertrude Farrell Torpey. She married Everett L. Leonard July 17, 1944, in Trenton, N.J. He died in 1979. She graduated from Lost Nation High School and earned a state teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers' School in Cedar Falls. She taught for 38 years before retiring. She was a member of the Retired Teachers' Association. Survivors include one son, Eugene (Carol) of Falls Church, Va.; and three grandchildren. The family requests memorials be made to VNA Hospice.
