He was born April 8, 1869 at Villa Nova and married Bridget Shannon November 12, 1894 at Clinton, Iowa. He is survived by 4 sons; Eugene of Milwaukee; Vincent E. of Davenport: Urban J. of Mason City and Frances P. of Villa, Ill.; and 2 daughters Mrs. John L. (Eleanor) O'Connell of Waterloo and Mrs. C. A. (Bernita) Van Hecke of Moline, Ill. He was preceded in death by his wife and infant son George. Funeral services were at St. Paul the Apostle church, Davenport and burial at Calvary cemetery in Waterloo with his nephew, Father Norbert Showalter of Rielly Ridge and Rev. F., Milwaukee, Wis.; V. E., Davenport, U. J., Mason City, Ia., and F. P., Villa Park, Ill., and two daughters, Mrs. John L. O'Connell, 238 blowers avenue, and Mrs. C. A. Van Hecke, Moline, Ill. He was preceded in death by his wife and an infant son. Funeral services will be Friday at 8:30 a.m. at St. Paul, the Apostle church in Davenport. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery here. There will be graveside services here at 1:30 p.m., with his nephew, Rev. Fr. Norbert Showalter, Rielly Ridge, Ia., and Rev. Farrell, Route 5, Waterloo, died of carcinoma at 11:40 p.m. Monday in St. Francis hospital following an illness of 10 weeks. She was 68 years old. Bridget Shannon was born March 14, 1869 at DeWitt, daughter of Patrick and Julia Shannon. She was married November 12, 1894 to Patrick S. Farrell in St. Mary's church in Clinton, Ia. The couple made their home on a farm near Clinton, later in Davenport for many years, and had been residents of Black Hawk county since 1918. Mrs. Farrell was a member of St. John's Catholic church. Surviving are the husband; four sons, Eugene E. of Green Bay, Wis. Vincent of Gilbertville, Iowa, Urban and Francis Farrell at home; two daughters, Mrs. J. L. O'Connell of 2412 Lafayette Street and Bernita at home; one sister, Mrs H. M. Smith, DeWitt; one brother, J. V. shannon, Savannah, Mo. and four grandchildren. _ The body will be taken from the Hurley Funeral home to the family residence on Highway 20, one mile east of Waterloo, Tuesday night. The funeral mass will be at 9am Thursday in St John's church by Rev. N. J. Lentz, pastor. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. St. John's Rosary society will meet at 7:30 pm Tuesday and Wednesday evenings to recite the rosary at the home. Women's Catholic Order of Foresters, St. Ann's court 1056 will recite the rosary at the family home at 8:30 pm Tuesday. St. Mary's church at Clinton was the scene of a happy wedding on Monday morning November 12, 1894 when in the presence of about 50 relatives and friends, Mr. P. S. Farrell of Villa Nova and Miss Bridget Shannon spoke the solemn words that made them husband and wife. The impressive ceremony was performed by Rev. E.J. McLaughlin. The bride was attended by her sister, Julia Shannon and Mr. Frank Showalter acted as groomsman. At the conclusion of the ceremony and congratulation had been extended the happy couple, the guests repaired to the home of the brides' parents, Mr and Mrs. Patrick Shannon at 643 6th Ave. in Clinton, where a wedding breakfast was served and a reception held. The newlywed couple have hosts of friends who join with the Advertiser in wishing them a happy and prosperous journey through life.
