Patrick Francis Farrell Patrick F. Farrell, 37, of rural Bryant, was dead on arrival at Mercy Hospital Saturday. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic church in Bryant, with the Rev. James Janssen, pastor of the church, officiating. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today in Snell-Zorning Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bryant Cemetery. Visitation today from 2 to 9 p.m. Pallbearers will be Larry Dever, Kenneth Swanton, John Larry, Charles Miller Robert McDonald, James Connell, Donald Hughs and Skip Miller, Honorary pallbearers will be Eddy Kaczinski and Bill Pokorney. Mr. Farrell was born Dec. 30, 1940 In Maquoketa, the son of James A. and Marie Foster Farrell. He graduated form Delmar High School in 1958. On June 18, 1960 he married LuAnn Ruma at St. Patrick's church in Clinton. He was a member of the Ia. Farmers Union, Clinton County Farm Bureau, Clinton County Cattlemen's Ass., Clinton County Pork Producers and St. Mary's church in Bryant. He was a Little League coach in Goose Lake and active in 4-H leadership in Elvira. Mr. Farrell is survived by his wife; two sons, David and Steven and two daughters Diane and Sharon, all at home; four brothers, Kenneth of Goose Lake Donald and Gerald, both of Delmar and Michael of Davenport; two sisters, Mrs. Judy Ketleson of Clinton and Mrs. Craig (Mary) Simmons of Delmar; and his mother, Mrs. Marie Farrell of Delmar. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother. Another item; He was found by a silo on the farm where he had apparently been working. Sheriff's deputies arriving on the scene reported that the body was found at 4 p.m. and had been lying behind the silo at least four hours. Deputies reported that Farrell had apparently been checking his silo when he toppled to the ground, possibly striking two pipes during his descent. The cause of death has not been determined. He married Marie Foster, Oct. 31, 1933, in Clinton. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Delmar, and was active in the Clinton-Jackson Dairy Herd Improvement Assn. Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Mrs Don (Judy) Ketelsen, Waterloo, and Mrs. Craig (Mary) Simmons, Delmar; five sons, Kenneth of Goose Lake, Donald and Gerald of Delmar, Patrick of Bryant and Michael in Davenport; 22 grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. John (Rosemary) Burke, Delmar. Before her marriage, she worked at McLellen's Store in Clinton, she was a homemaker and she had farmed with her husband in Delmar, until retiring in 1972. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, St. Patrick's Altar and Rosary Society, Delmar New Century Club, Bloomfield Homemakers, Delmar Community School PTA, Farmers Union and numerous card clubs. She was active with Clinton County Democratic Party, and she was a Chicago Cubs fan. She is survived by two daughters, Judy Farrell, Marion, and Mary (Mrs. Ed) Noel, Wheatland; three sons, Donald (and Jan) Farrell and Gerald (and Mary) Farrell, both of Delmar, and Michael "Mike" Farrell, Davenport; two daughters-in-law, Patsey Farrell, Goose Lake, and LuAnn Farrell, Bryant; 26 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and a sister, Clara Bartels; a brother, Howard (and Helen) Foster; and three sisters-in-law, Lualis Foster, Mary Foster and Doris Foster, all of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; three sons, Kenneth, Aloysius and Patrick; two grandsons, Thomas Simmons, on 9/29/2001, and a grandson in infancy; a granddaughter, Rosanne Farrell, on 11/2/1999; a great-grandson in infancy; a sister, Josephine; and five brothers, Frank, Richard, Hubert, Millard and Ray.
