Death Notice:  Ed Showalter

Edwin Showalter, 78, died January 31.

Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Catholic Church was February
3. Burial was in the church cemetery. Iten Funeral Service was in
charge of arrangements.

Showalter was active for many years in affairs of the Delano
community. His obituary will be published next week.

			Edwin Thomas Showalter

Edwin Thomas Showalter, 78, died January 31.

Showalter was born in Davenport, Iowa, October 9, 1900.  He moved to
Delano in the 1930s, and married Ann Jaunich of Delano on October 26,
1936.  After 37 years as a sales representative, he retired in 1965.

He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.  During 33 years of membership
in the Knights of Columbus, Showalter served as treasurer of the
Immaculate Conception Council, Deputy Grand Knight, Grand Knight and
District Deputy.

Showalter served as a trustee of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He
served on the Delano Park Board and was a Delano Park Commissioner.
He was a president of the Delano Franklin Community Chest and a long
time Delano election judge. Throughout his years in Delano, he was
active in a host of activities which benefited local youth.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; a son, Dennis Edwin, and two
grandchildren, Clara Kathleen and John Edwin, all of Colorado Springs.
Other survivors are two brothers, Albert of Washington D.C. and Harold
of Elma, Iowa; a sister, Sister M. Madonna Showalter of Cedar Rapids,
Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Resurrection was said by the Reverend Domenic Aversa at
St. Joseph's Catholic Church, February 3, 1979, 10:30 a.m. The
Reverend Maynard Kegler delivered the homily and the Reverend Remi
Payant placed a present on the altar and was the reader.  Interment
was in St. Joseph's Church Cemetery. Larry Stein, Jean Johnson, Frank
Salonek, Art Gonsior, Sam Gnitka and Al Fink were pallbearers.

			      Obituaries
			   Ann F. Showalter

Services for Ann F. Showalter, 88, of Delano were Saturday, June 18,
at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Delano. Father Bob
Zasacki officiated.

Organist for the funeral was Therese Borrell, and St. Joseph's
Resurrection Choir sang.

Casketbearers were John Olson, Gary Zitzloff, Art Gonsior, Dick Traen,
Vincent Jaunich and Len Schreder.

Burial was at St. Joseph's Church cemetery.

Mrs. Showalter died Monday, June 13 at the Delano Healthcare Center.
She was born June 19, 1905 at Franklin Township, the daughter of John
and Katherine (Twardy) Jaunich.

Mrs. Showalter is preceded in death by her husband Edwin.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis Showalter and
Clara Anne McKenna; granddaughter Clara Kathleen Showalter; grandson
John Showalter; and sister Louise Peterson.
