Francis J. Showalter Francis J. Showalter, 75, of 1063 Fifth Avenue SE, died Saturday after a short illness. Born Dec. 22, 1894, in DeWitt, he had lived in Cedar Rapids 46 years. Mr. Showalter was a retired auto salesman and mechanic. He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the American Legion. Surviving are a son, Richard Showalter, Shreveport, La.; six brothers, the Rev. Norbert Showalter, Garnavillo, Leo Showalter, St. Paul, Minn.; Edwin Showalter, Delano, Minn.; Albert Showalter, Washington, D.C.; Harold Showalter, Elma, and Linus Showalter, Dyersville, anda sister, Sister Mary Madonna, Evansdale. Services: Tuesday at 9 a.m. in Immaculate Conception church by the Rev. Roger E. O'Brien. Burial: Calvary cemetery at Elma. Father O'Brien will recite the Rosary Monday at 7:30 pm.m at the Stewart funeral home where friends may call.
