Mrs. Mary Hanrahan Dies Following Short Illness of Anemia Mrs. Mary A. Hanrahn, 65, widow of the late Alfred Hanrahn of Elma, died in the Cresco hospital Friday evening following an illness of 10 days. Cause of death was anemia. Funeral services were held on Monday morning in the Elma Immaculate Conception church. Offering the requiem high mass was Mrs. Hanrahn's brother, the Rev. Norbert Showalter of Lamont. The Rev. Urban M. Churchill, pastor, delivered the sermon. Burial was in Calvary cemetery, Elma. Mrs. Hanrahn, the former Mary A., Showalter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Showalter, was born at Villa Nova, May 4, 1889. She attended the rural schools of Clinton and Scott counties and was married to Alfred Hanrahn in Delmar, June 16, 1909. Following their marriage the couple moved to Elma. Mr. and Mrs. Hanrahn became the parents of two sons, Cyril Hanrahn of Iowa City, and Raymond Hanrahan of Spokane, Washington. Surviving Mrs. Hanrahn, in addition to her two sons, are a granddaughter, Anna Mae Hanrahn, 10 brothers, the Rev. Norbert Showalter of Lamont, Josephe of Elma, Francis and Cyril of Cedar Rapids, Leo of Saint Paul, Edwin of Delano, Minnesota, Earl of Rock Island, Illinois, Albert of Washington, D. C., Harold of Elma, and Linus of Dyersville, and one sister, Sister Mary Madonna of DeWitt. Preceding Mrs. Hanrahn in death, in addition to her parents, are her husband, who died May 27, 1935, and a brother, George, who died in infancy.
