Lois Marie Showalter 09/10/2003 ROCK ISLAND -- Lois Marie Showalter, of Rock Island, died Monday, September 8, 2003, at her home after an extended illness with ovarian cancer. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 12, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday, September 11, at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. A Christian wake service is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, Lois requested memorials be made to the Adoration Chapel at St. Pius X Church, or Alleman High School Fine Arts Center. Lois was born Sept. 16, 1936, in Elma, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Bernetta (Weber) Rosonke. She married John E. "Jack" Showalter on September 14, 1957, in Elma. Lois worked for the Rock Island Arsenal, United Way and Rock Island County Data Processing, where she retired after 25 years of service. She was a member of St. Pius X Church, where she loved to attend the weekly prayer services. Lois was a member of the Allouez Council 658 Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and a strong supporter of Helpers of God's Precious Infants. Lois enjoyed spending time with her family and spending the cold winters in Arizona. She is survived by her husband, Jack; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and William Anderson, Tucson, Ariz.; son and daughter-in-law, Casey and Jane Showalter, Altoona, Iowa; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Kelly Showalter, Gladstone, Ill.; son and daughter-in-law, John and Colleen Showalter, East Moline; seven grandchildren; sister, Carol Showalter, Waterloo, Iowa; and brothers, Ronald and David Rosonke, Phoenix, Ariz., and Donald Rosonke, Floyd, Iowa.
