J. C. Showalter John C. Showalter, 71, of 1202 First street SW, retired employe of Wilson and Co., died Thursday following a long illness. Born April 22, 1898 in Davenport, he had resided in Cedar Rapids since 1954. He was married to Angela Adams in North Washington, June 1, 1932. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Gerald L. of Hayesville; six grandchildren; seven brothers, Frank of Cedar Rapids, Leo of St. Paul, Minn.; Edwin of Delano, Minn.; Albert of Washington, D.C.; Harold of Elma; Linus of Dyersville and the Rev. Norbert Showalter of Garnavillo, and a sister, Mary Madonna Showalter with the Sisters of Mercy, Waterloo. Requiem mass: 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Patrick's church by the Rev. Paul J. Maguire. Burial: Mt. Calvary cemetery. Parish Rosary will be recited in the Janeba-Kuba Funeral home west at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
