John Q. Mahannah John Q. Mahannah died in Iowa City Wednesday, June 15, 1910. Brights disease complicated with heart trouble caused his death. He was born at Mt. Vernon, Knox county Ohio, Jan. 20, 1851, and was the last surviving son of G. A. and Katherine Mahannah. Two brothers and one sister died in childhood. Two sisters are still living, Mrs. Annabel Patterson of North English and Mrs. Addie Simmons of Cando, North Dakota. In the fall of 1857 he came with his parents to Iowa. He was married in October 1871 to Jane F. Gilchrist. He joined the Christian church in North English, and was serving in that capacity at the time of his death. With his wife he moved from the farm into town in the fall of 1906. Mrs. Mahannah died May 21, 1908. Two children died in infancy and there are still living three sons, Joseph, George and Walter who are engaged in the harness business here. The funeral sermon was preached on Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the Christian Church by the pastor, Frank W. Sutton. A large number of people were present.
