Services Held Sunday For Helen Geiger 1/25/1968 Helen Hope Geiger, daughter of George and Nettie B. Gilchrist Roller was born July 5, 1897 in North English and passed away January 18, 1968 in the University Hospitals in Iowa City, where she had been a patient for five weeks. She attended the North English schools and was a member of the Christian Church and Iowa Rebekah Lodge No. 355. On February 24, 1916 she was united in marriage to Constant C. Geiger in Sigourney, Iowa. To this union were born two sons. Most of their married life was spent in farming near North English until 1956. The next few years they were engaged in business in Marengo, Prairie City and New Sharon. Upon retiring in 1962 they returned to North English to live. She is survived by her husband, and two sons, Merton of Nroth English and Lyle of West Des Moines; five grandchildren: Richard Geiger, Kansas City, Mo.; Douglas Geiger, Iowa City, Mrs. Ron Dye (Cathy), Hiawatha, Iowa, Sheryl Ann Geiger and Bruce Geiger of West Des Moines; two great-grandchildren, Janet Dye and Philip Geiger. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Fannye Mullin and Mrs. Doris Riess. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Long, Mrs. Lita LaVelle and MRs. MAble Ellett. Due to the redecorating of the Christian Church, funeral services were conducted by Rev. David Stout in the Methodist Church on Saturday, January 20, 1968. Mrs. Robert Gilmore was organist. Casket bearers were Don Coffman, William Coffman, Barney Morgan, Walter Wade, Cloyd Fuller and Glenn Reed. Interment was in the North English Cemetery. Probably the North English Record, but not stated on the photocopy I got from a N. English researcher. Services Held for C. C. "Jigger" Geiger, 84 Funeral services for C. C. "Jigger" Geiger, 84, were held Wednesday, Sept. 9 at the Powell Funeral home, North English, at 1:30 p.m. Geiger died on Sept. 7, 1981, at the English Valley care center where he had been a resident for nearly two weeks. He had been a patient at Veterans Hospital, Iowa City, for three weeks prior to entering the care center. The Rev. Kevin Levick officiated. Organist was Mrs. L.J. Powell. Casket bearers included: Winston Claypool, James Riess, Glenn Cobb, Harry Miller, David Mullin and Robert Jacobs. Interment was in the North English cemetery. Constant Cicil Geiger was born Nov. 11, 1896, near North English, to William M. and Tamar Ann Smart Geiger. He attended and graduated from North English high school and was married to Helen Hope Roller Feb. 24, 1916. Geiger worked at Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids for several years before returning to the North English area where he operated a tank wagon and farmed. A veteran of World War I, he was also a member of the American Legion, and of the Pleasant Grove Brethren church. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen in January, 1968; his parents; a great-granddaughter Amy; sisters Della Ballard, Lila Cheny; infant sister Mary Geiger and a brother, Coral Geiger.
