Gladys Lockridge Gladys Belle Lockridge, 92, of Colfax and formerly of North English died Fri., Oct. 10, 2003, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton, following an extended illness. She was born on April 4, 1911, near North English, the daughter of John Earl and Isabelle Jane Gilchrist Wiggins. She attended country school and graduated from North English High School. She had been a member of the North English Christian Church, the First Christian Church of Perry and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was married to Milo "Shibe" Lockridge on April 18, 1929, in Sigourney. They farmed near North English before moving into town. She worked several years at Churchill's Cafe in North English. In 1955, they moved to Perry, where she worked at the Lutheran Home. They enjoyed square dancing and she was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. She was also an avid Billy "Crash" Craddock Fan Club Member. She loved crocheting and watching sports on TV. She moved to Colfax in 1987. She is survived by three daughters: Shirley Tucker of Colfax, Helen Marie Davis of St. Paul, Minn. and Pam Fox of Colfax; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren; one sister, Helen Wiggins of North English and a cousin, Irene Hudson of San Mateo, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1971; a sister, Mildred Kolosik; a granddaughter, Jaynee Belinda and a son-in-law, Joe Tucker. Funeral services were held on Oct. 13 at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English with the Pastor Don Ridenour officiating. Burial was at the North English Cemetery.
