Rites Held Monday For Earl Wiggins, 89 Earl Wiggins, well known North English resident, passed away last Friday, March 7, at Perry, Iowa, where he had been staying for the past few weeks. Funeral services were held Monday, March 10, 1969 in North English Christian Church at 1:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. David Stout. Music was furnished by Mrs. Edna Gilmore, organist and Mrs. Jean Pacholke, vocalist. Burial was in North English Cemetery. Casket bearers were: Robert Jones Dean Morse, George M. Smith, Leo Bucher, Arnold Bair and Arnold Carter. Masonic funeral services were held Sunday, March 9, 1969 at Best Funeral Chapel. John Earl Wiggins was born December 29, 1879 near North English, Iowa in the White Pigeon neighborhood. On June 30, 1900 he was united in marriage to Isabelle J. Gilchrist. To this union were born three daughters: Mrs. Orval Kolosik (Mildred), and Helen Wiggins, North English, Iowa and Mrs. Milo Lockridge (Gladys) of Perry, Iowa. Mr. Wiggins was engaged in farming most of his lifetime. After retiring from the farm and moving to town, he followed the carpenter trade for some years. Earl was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star. He was active in community affairs and served as a North English town councilman for a number of years. He passed away March 7, 1969 at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry, Iowa, at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 22 days. He leaves to remember him his three daughters, eight grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, four brothers and two sisters. North English Record Resolutions of Respect Whereas: The Divine Providence in His Infinite Wisdom has seen fit to remove our Brother Earl Wiggins from this transitory life to a state of Eternal Duration, and Whereas: by the Death of our Brother his family lose a kind and devoted father, the community a man of sterling worth, and the Masonic Order, a brother, whose loss is deplored, and whose memory will be revered, be it, Resolved: That triumph Lodge No. 479, A.F. &A.M. be draped in mourning for a period of thirty days, that one copy of these resolutions of Respect be sent to the bereaved Family, one copy to the local newspaper for publication and that the Secretary of the lodge be instructed to spread the same on his records. Services Held For Mrs. Earl Wiggins Funeral Services were held for Mrs. Earl Wiggins, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Christian Church, conducted by Rev. P. Pearson. Rites were also conducted by the Eastern Stars. Hymns were sung by Mrs. Al ???? and Mrs. Dean Thomas , accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Merle Smith. Burial was in North English Cemetery. Isabelle Jane Gilchrist, oldest daughter of David and Fanny Patterson Gilchrist was born on Sept. 28, 1883 near North English and passed away at her home Thursday at the age of 66 years 4 months and 5 days. She attended Willow Grove rural school later taking the place in the home to fill the spot left vacant by her father's untimely death. When her mother passed away she was a second mother to her younger sisters, even taking them into her home. She was united with the North English Christian Church in girlhood and retained that affiliation unto her death. She also belonged to the Eastern Star. She was married to J. Earl Wiggins at South English. Their home was established on a farm near White Pigeon where they resided until moving to town nearly 22 years ago. This union was blest with three daughters; Mrs. Orville (Mildred) Kolosik, Helen of the home and Mrs. Milo (Gladys) Lockridge, all of North English, who in addition to her husband, are left to bear her loss. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Vesta (Mary) Fancher of Webster She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, one grandson and one great grandson. HOME to her must have been the sweetest word in our language for she made it a haven of comfort to her husband, a sanctuary of blessed remembrances to her daughters and a welcome hearth to any relative or friend who came to her in happiness or sorrow. Belle liked the simple things, especially children and flowers, neighborly kindness, unspoken sentiments. To the sorrowing husband, daughters and family solace must surely come in the knowing that the all just Lord and Master spoke softly and called her to that most beautiful and rewarding of all places--her Everlasting Home. The North English Record Obituary The funeral service for Mrs. Earl Wiggins of North English, 66, who died from a sudden heart attack on February 2, was held at North English on Sunday, February 5. Mrs. Wiggins the former Isabelle Gilchrist, was born Sept. 28, 1883. She was married to J. Earl Wiggins on June 3, 1900. Their first home was established on a farm near White Pigeon, where they lived until moving to North English 21 years ago. They became the parents of three daughter, Mrs. Orval Kolosik and Mrs. Milo Lockridge of North English and Helen, at home; eight grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Vesta Fancher of Webster.
