MELVIN WHITE Funeral for Melvin White will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2000, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Vail with burial at St. Ann Catholic Cemetery in Vail. Mr. White, 84, of Westside, died Monday, June 12, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, at Heuebner Funeral Home in Denison. Mr. White is survived by a sister, Esther White, of Denis; two brothers, Joe White and his wife, Helen, of Carroll and Father Lloyd White of Carroll; and a sister-in-law, Alma White, of Fremont, Neb. Legion of Mary will lead a rosary at 3 p.m. and there will be a scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. He died Monday, June 12, 2000 at the St. Anthony's Nursing Home in Carroll, Iowa at the age of eighty-four. Melvin was born near Westside, Iowa and received his education at St. Ann's Catholic School, graduating with the class of 1934. He continued his education at Trinity College in Sioux City and Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska where he received his principal certificate. Melvin taught school for many years in the public schools and for the last five years of his teaching career, he taught at St. Alberts in council Bluffs. He loved teaching and traveling to California and the Black Hills. His favorite past time was playing the piano. Melvin was a very kind and considerate person who always spoke kind words about everyone, including his students. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Vail. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, John White and one sister, Pearl White Williams. Survivors include one sister, Esther White of Denison; two brothers, Joe White and his wife, Helen; and Fr. Lloyd White, all of Carroll; one sister-in-law, Alma White of Fremont, Nebraska and one brother-in-law, Brice Williams of Santa Rosa, California.
