			   JOSEPH  B.  DUNN

Joseph Dunn  died Wednesday, September  18, 1996, at his  residence in
Carroll, Iowa, at the age of 73.  Joe was born on August 5, 1923, near
Wall  Lake, Iowa,  the  son of  Leo  and Mary  (McLaughlin) Dunn.   He
married Marguerite Downey  on June 16, 1947, at  St.  Joseph Church in
Wall Lake.   The couple farmed in  the Wall Lake  community until 1975
when  they moved  to  Carroll. Joe  was  the parts  manager at  Herman
Ford-Mercury  Co. and  Griffith Ford-Mercury  Co.  in  Carroll  for 20
years.   He served  in the  U.S.  Army  during World  War  II, serving
overseas in Germany  as an ambulance driver.  He was  a member of Holy
Spirit  Parish,  Carroll  American  Legion, and  Carroll  Veterans  of
Foreign Wars.

He is  survived by  his wife, Marguerite;  his children,  Pat (Steven)
Dunn-Kunz, Tom  (Joan) Dunn,  Mike Dunn, Dan  (Deb) Dunn,  John (Ruth)
Dunn, Bell  (Deb) Dunn,  Mary (Jim) Dunn-Hayward,  and Kathy  Dunn; 15
grandchildren; sister,  Margaret (Raymond) Boes;  and brother-in-laws,
Joseph (Mary) Downey and John Downey.  He was preceded in death by his
parents; father and mother-in-law, Leo and Agnes (Maher) Downey; and a
brother-in-law, Tom Downey.
