Mrs. Thos. Dunn In Final Sleep This community was saddened last Friday morning when it learned of the death of Mrs. Margaret Dunn, an old time resident of Crawford county. Mrs. Dunn was a good mother, a faithful wife, a patient sufferer and a devout christian. She was held in highest esteem for her splendid character and a life devoted to good deeds. In her death the community has lost a dear, amiable and unselfish friend. She carried the riches of God within herself and was greatly beloved by all. Margaret Lawler was born May 9, 1844, Timahoe, Queens county, Ireland. She came to America in 1849 and located at Lexington, Kentucky. In 1855 accompanied by the rest of her family she came to Clinton county, Iowa, settling near DeWitt, where they lived for several years. In 1865 she was married to Thos. Dunn and in 1872 they moved on a farm in Jackson township, Crawford county, in which township she has resided until her death. Her husband preceeded her in death twenty years ago. Besides his dear soul five small sons and one daughter had passed away, they being victims of an epidemic of diptheria in 1880, also a stepson, John Dunn, who died at Staten Island, New York, Sept. 23, 1917. Mrs. Dunn leaves to moun her loss one daughter Josephine, whose loving care greatly lightened her mother's last days, two devoted sons, Claire and Leo, two small grandchildren, Margaret and Joseph, one sister, Mrs. Alicia Kealy, of Hastings, Nebr., and one brother, Patrick Lawler, who made his home with Mrs. Dunn. Also many nieces, nephews other relatives and neighbors. Funeral serves were held in Wall Lake, Monday, January 19 at St. Joseph's Catholic church of which she was a devout member, where a Requiem High Mass was celebrated. Rev. James Slattery officiating, after which the body was taken to Arcadia and laid to rest in St. John's cemetery beside her husband and six children. Pallbearers were the following nephews: Joseph Cudddy, Will Lawler, Lew Kerrigan, Daniel Lawler and Joseph Kealy. Friends and relatives from a distance here to attend the funeral were Mrs. Dunn's sister, Mrs. Alicia Kealy and son Joseph of Hastings, Nebr., Daniel Lawler, son Louis and Edward Lawler of DeWitt, Iowa, John W. Dunn of Long Grove, Will Boyle of Staten Island, New York, Mrs. Catherine Breen and Miss Regina Walsh of Omaha, Elizabeth and Kathering Kerman of Hastings, Nebr., and many other relatives and friends from surrounding towns.
