Raymond C. Hohlfeld, 90, of Ossining, N.Y., died Monday, May 18, 1998, at St. Teresa's Residence, Maryknoll's health care facility as the result of a stroke. Wake services are 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and services are 11 a.m. Thursday, both at Maryknoll's Queen of Apostles Chapel in Ossining. Burial will be in Maryknoll Cemetery. Rev. Hohlfeld was born Jan. 29, 1908, to Oscar and Agnes (Kealy) Hohlfeld in Hastings. He attended St. Cecilia Parochial School. He graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1926. He entered Maryknoll Junior Seminary at Mountain View, Calif., in 1926. He was ordained a priest at Maryknoll Seminary in Ossining June 17, 1934. He served in Manchuria and later Fushun Seminary where he taught until World War II. In December 1941, he was arrested and imprisoned in Fushun by Japanese occupying forces. In 1942 he returned to the United States. He then served in Puno, Peru, where he worked for three years. In 1946 he completed a bachelor's degree in library science at Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. He was a faculty member at Maryknoll Junior Seminary in Brookline, Mass. In 1949 he transferred to Maryknoll Apostolic College in Clark's Summit, Pa., where he was a librarian. In 1957 he was appointed chaplain at St. Joseph's Guest House in New Haven, Conn., where he worked until its closing in 1975. Services are 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Pius Catholic Church in Coeur d'Alene. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery at Coeur d'Alene. English Funeral Chapel of Coeur d'Alene is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. McMurray was born June 14, 1923, to Frank and Adeline (Mitchell) Kealy in Hastings. She moved to Coeur d'Alene in 1944. On March 18, 1944, she married Roy C. McMurray in Coeur d'Alene. They moved to Hastings and returned to Coeur d'Alene in 1945. She was a bookkeeper for Panhandle Distributors for many years. She was active in St. Thomas Catholic Church, St. Pius Catholic Church, Campfire Girls, Boy Scouts and many other community organizations, all in Coeur d'Alene. Survivors are her husband; one son, Fred of Coeur d'Alene; two daughters, Kathleen Kurdy of Sioux City, Iowa, and Sally Rhodes of Mead, Wash.; three sisters, Marie Foote and Mary Helen Sheehy, both of Hastings, and Eileen Worden of Malibu, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Roy "Mac" McMurray December 23, 1923 ~ February 10, 2005 Roy "Mac" McMurray, 81, died Feb. 10, 2005, at Pinewood Care Center in Coeur d'Alene. He was born in Puyallup, Wash., on Dec. 20, 1923, to Mr. and Mrs. C.E. McMurray. In 1930, he and his parents moved back to Coeur d'Alene, where Mac enjoyed growing up and attending local schools. After graduating from Coeur d'Alene High School, he attended North Idaho Junior College and then enrolled at University of Idaho. Mac's college education was interrupted when he joined the Army Air Corps in 1942. During flight training, he met and fell in love with Patricia Kealy of Hastings, Neb. They were married on March 16, 1944, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Coeur d'Alene. After he was commissioned a second lieutenant and received his pilot wings, Mac completed two combat tours in Italy. In 1945, he resigned from active duty and moved his family back to Coeur d'Alene. Mac received his real estate license in 1956 and enjoyed an active real estate career for many years, which included owning McMurray Realty for almost 20 years, president of the Coeur d'Alene Board of Realtors, serving as a state director of Realtors. Mac was deeply involved in the local community. He was lead trumpet in the Elks Club Band, commander of local Post 14 of the American Legion, athletic director of Immaculate Heart of Mary Academy Catholic High School, and an active member of the Lions Club. He was especially proud of his efforts in two volunteer positions -- board member and chairman of Coeur d'Alene Homes from 1975 to 1983, and board member and chairman on the Coeur d'Alene Planning Commission from 1971 to 1979. Mac was predeceased by his parents and wife Patricia. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Fred and Judy McMurray of Coeur d'Alene, Kathleen and Tom Kurdy, Kalispell, Mont., Sally and Mike Rhodes, Mead, Wash.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
