ASU: A three-year starter who ranks among the most successful quarterbacks in ASU history … ranks fourth on ASU's all-time career passing list and is among the top 25 in Pac-10 career passing with 6,274 yards ... is one of only four ASU quarterbacks in history to surpass 6,000 yards passing ... ranks third in ASU history with 460 completions ... tied for fifth in ASU history with 44 career TD passes, which ranks 23rd in Pac-10 history ... in three years at the helm, he has an 18-14 record ... is one of five quarterbacks in school history to lead ASU to at least two bowl games ... a unique throwing style enables him to throw from a variety of angles accurately … has a 55.6 career completion percentage and thrown has 1.7 touchdowns for each interception … has been plagued by injuries, amassing five knee surgeries, four on his right knee … has had three reconstructive surgeries (left in 1996, right in 1998 and 1999) and two arthroscopic procedures (right knee in 1998 and 1999) … two of the ACL tears occurred against Arizona, forcing him to miss both bowl games he led the Sun Devils to in 1997 and 1999.

1999: Started in all 11 games he played … completed 148 of 267 passes (55.4%) for 1,976 yards, 10 touchdowns and 10 interceptions ... hampered by injuries in ASU's first four contests, but completed 120 of 216 passes (55.5%) for 1,579 yards and eight touchdowns in his last seven performances ... tallied season-high effort - completing 24 of 46 passes for 324 yards against Stanford, the second-highest yardage total of his career ... had one of his most accurate games against Cal as he threw for 266 yards and two touchdowns on 15 of 25 passing ... added 4 of 4 passing for thirteen yards before leaving with a knee injury against UCLA ... became the first ASU quarterback to beat Washington in Seattle since Paul Justin in 1989 … helped lead the Sun Devils to a 42-27 victory over Arizona with 287 passing yards and two touchdowns ... his 51-yard TD pass to wideout Richard Williams in the first quarter against Arizona was the longest completion of the season.

1998: Entered his sophomore campaign fully recovered from an ACL injury in his right knee suffered during the 1997 Arizona game … fourth in the Pac-10 with 216.1 yards per game … fifth in the Pac-10 and 40th in the nation with 205.8 yards of total offense … ranked fourth in the Pac-10 and 21st in the nation with a 144.1 pass-efficiency rating … passed for 302 yards (20 of 35) and 3 TDs in ASU's opener against Washington … vs. the Huskies, he became the first ASU QB to pass for more than 300 yards since Jake Plummer did so against Stanford on Oct. 16, 1996 … his 60-yard TD pass to Kenny Mitchell in the second quarter against North Texas was the third-longest of his career … attempted and completed one 17-yard pass to Mitchell for the first down against USC … on the very next play was crushed by Trojan Chris Claiborne, suffering a mild concussion that sidelined him for the game … was benched for the only time in his career after throwing for 121 yards vs. No. 22 Notre Dame (13-of-22)… came in off the bench at the end of the 3rd quarter against Stanford with ASU trailing 31-24 … threw for two TDs, including the game-winning score in overtime ó a 25-yard TD pass to former high school teammate Tariq McDonald on ASU's first snap in OT … finished the game 8-of-15 with 153 yards and regained his starting role against Washington State … went 22-of-33 for 24 yds. and 3 TDs against the Cougars … against California, missed one series in the second quarter and the second half with a sprained right knee … finished 9-of-14 with 188 yards and two touchdowns vs. the Golden Bears, including a career-high 79-yard touchdown pass to Mitchell in the second quarter … it was the first completed pass of 75 yards or more by ASU since the 1995 Nebraska game, when Jake Plummer threw an 80-yard TD pass to Keith Poole … underwent scope surgery on his right knee Nov. 9 and sat out the Nov. 14 game at Oregon … completed 33 of 56 passes, both career highs, for a career-high 511 yards at Arizona … the 511-yard effort was the second-best in the Pac-10 during the 1998 season and the second-best in ASU history … also threw a career-high tying four touchdown passes.

1997: A Sporting News Freshman All-American … led ASU to the Sun Bowl .and an 8-3 regular season record … earned the Mike Bartholomew Most Improved Offensive Player Award and Bill Kajikawa Freshman of the Year Award … broke ASU freshman records for completions (162), attempts (297), yards (2,137) and touchdowns (15) … threw only seven interceptions … one of the most prolific seasons in Pac-10 history for a freshman quarterback, as his numbers ranked as the third-highest yardage total, third-most completions and fourth-most TD passes in Pac-10 history … won the starting job at Camp Tontozona and made his Sun Devil debut and first collegiate start against New Mexico State (11/19, 107 yds., 1 TD) … fittingly threw his first college touchdown to high school teammate Tariq McDonald … a two-time Pac-10 Player of the Week, becoming the first freshman QB since Todd Marinovich in 1989 to be honored twice in one season … won for the first time after completing 21 of 34 passes for 281 yards and 3 TDs to beat USC … honored a second time after handing eventual Pac-10 champion Washington State its only conference loss of the season by completing 23 of 36 passes for 245 yards and a career-high four touchdowns … marched the Devils 80 yards on seven plays for the winning score in the fourth quarter … fired his season-high 67-yard touchdown pass to Creig Spann as part of a 14 of 23 for 277-yard, two-touchdown performance against California … suffered a torn ACL in his right knee in the second quarter against Arizona.

1996: Redshirted while rehabilitating from a left knee surgery … suffered the injury in a high school all-star game.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 1996 graduate of St. Mary's High School, Phoenix, Ariz.… one of the most highly-regarded and sought-after players in the nation…led St. Mary's to the 5A state championship at Sun Devil Stadium by defeating Horizon High, 33-7… compiled a 14-0 record, winning 13 of those games by at least 22 points… two-time selection as the Most Valuable Player at the Bruce Snyder Sun Angel football camp… in 1992 led St. Mary's freshman football team to an undefeated season… completed 14 touchdown passes to just three interceptions… in 1993 started at quarterback for the varsity squad, taking it to the 5A state semifinals… named honorable all-state, all-valley and all-class 5A at quarterback… two-time AIA scholar athlete award winner … compiled a 60.3 completion percentage by completing 143 passes out of 237 attempts for 1,932 yards… threw 22 touchdown passes to just eight interceptions… in 1994 led St. Mary's to the 5A state runner-up… named to the all-Arizona class 5A first-team as a quarterback and all-region first-team… earned St. Mary's Most Valuable Offensive Player award … named "Who's Who" among American High School students… completed 124 of 205 passes (60.4-percent) for 1,767 yards and 20 touchdowns against only three interceptions… during his senior year, he won almost every award possible as well as leading St. Mary's to the state 5A championship… ranked as the seventh-best quarterback in the nation… named to countless all-star teams and lists… selected as a Parade All-American… member of The Long Beach Press-Telegram's "Best of the Rest" team… named to several of the BlueChip Illustrated teams, including their "Dream Team", all-Western region/All-American quarterback and "Best of the West" "Super-25"… selected as The Arizona Republic and The Phoenix Gazette Class 5A Player of the Year… USA Today Arizona Player of the Year… all-Arizona 5A quarterback… named 5A Player of the Year by Arizona High School Kickoff and Student Sports… member of the Classy All-American/all-region team (West coast)… Channel 12 News Offensive Player of the Year… selected to the all-Arizona class 5A first-team as well as all-Valley/all-Class and all-Region first teams… received the Ed Doherty award for Most Outstanding Player in Arizona and the Fred Enke award for Arizona's best high school quarterback … had jersey retired at St. Mary's… recorded unbelievable statistics by completing 182 of 255 passes (71-percent) for 2,682 yards and 41 touchdowns (Arizona single-season record) against only three interceptions … in his three-year varsity career, completed 64-percent of his passes for 6,351 yards, second most in state history, and 83 touchdowns, breaking another state mark… also holds or shares all passing records at St. Mary's… best individual performance came in the 1995 5A state championship game against Horizon… lettered in football and baseball… coached by ASU alumnus Pat Farrell.
