Tuesday night at the home of his son, Lew Kerringan, in Jackson township, occurred the death of Mr. James Kerringan after an extended illness of several months. the deceased had been a resident of Crawford county for a number of years and has a large number of friends. The funeral was held Friday, March 30, from St. Ann's church at 10 o'clock. A requiem high mass was celebrated by Rev. James Murphy. Interment was made in St. Ann's cemetery. WEST SIDE Death of James Kerrigan. In the death of James Kerrigan last Wednesday, March 28, this community lost a man who was exceedingly well known and popular among all people. Mr. Kerrigan was one of those jolly and good natured old men whom it is a pleasure to know and to talk with, and his life in the community had meant sunshine and pleasure to many and his death now means deep regret. James Kerrigan was born in Canada in the year 1852. He was taken with the family to La Salle, Ill., in 1854, and after about 15 years there, the young lad, with his father and a sister and brother, moved out to Boone, Ia. They spent a short time there and in the spring of 1867 Mr. Kerrigan became a resident of Crawford county, coming to West Side, where he has resided ever since. Death occurred at the home of his son in Jackson township after a long illness. During the early years he was married, the wife having preceded him to the grave. Mr. Kerrigan leaves on son, Lew, married and living near West Side in Crawford county; also a brother, William, of Knoxville, Ia., and a sister, Mrs. Lanigan, of San Francisco, Calif. Many friends and neighbors join in sympathy to the bereaved and in regret at the loss of this good old man. The funeral services were held in Vail Friday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. Fr. Murphy celebrating requiem high mass, and interment was made in the Vail cemetery. A large number from West Side and vicinity were in attendance. Denison Bulletin, Wednesday, April 4, 1917 ---------------------- Passing of Mr. Lew Kerrigan, Jackson Township Farmer Vail Observer: --- Mr. Lew Kerrigan, a widely known and highly honored resident of Crawford county, passed away at at his home in Jackson township on Sunday evening. He had been in poor health for some time but his condition was not thought to be serious until he suddenly grew worse and sank steadily until the end. The deceased was for many years a resident of Jackson township and was highly honored and respected by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his wife, son, James, and daughters, Anna and Margaret; one sister, Mrs. John O'Donnell, besides many other relatives and a host of friends. The funeral was held at St. Ann's church here at 9:30 this Wednesday morning, Rev. Slattery of Wall Lake celebrating the Requiem Mass and conducting the services and burial was in the family lot in St. Ann's cemetery. Dec. 21, 1933 Denison Bulletin ---------------------- The people of this community were painfully surprised when the word went forth last Friday morning that Mrs. Louis Kerrigan had died at her home north of town, after a week's sickness. The funeral was held Sunday noon from St. Ann's church, Father Murphy officiating. Interment in St. Ann's cemetery. Aside from her husband Mrs. Kerrigan leaves a host of sincere friends, who mourn her death as well as offer their sincerest sympathy to the husband. Those from a distance to attend Mrs. Kerrigan's funeral were her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Kernan, and two sisters, also Miss Margaret Kealy and Mrs. John Kealy, all of Hastings, Neb., also several from Lyons, Iowa. Denison (Iowa) Review Feb. 16, 1910 ---------------------- Anna G. Kerigan, 82, of 430 Grand Ave. died of cancer Friday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ambrose Cathedral, of which she was a member. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Miss Kerigan was born in Crawford County and lived in Des Moines since 1949. She was a retired proofreader for The Des Moines Register and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, the Legion of Mary, the Printers Auxilliary and the Typographical Union. She is survived by a brother, Jim of Des Moines. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Dunn's Funeral Home, where a Legion of Mary Rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. and a vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to her church or to Mercy Hospital. Oct. 21, 1991 Des Moines Register ---------------------- James Kerigan Altoona James Kerigan, 83, of Altoona Manor Care Center in Atoona [sic] died of complications of diabetes Wednesday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Cathedral, of which he was a member. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in St. Marys. Mr. Kerigan was born in Crawford County and had lived in the Des Moines area most his life. He was a retired security guard, a musician and a member of Adventures Club. Nieces and nephews survive. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Dahlstrom's Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to his church. Requiem mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Ann's Church, Vail, by the Rev. J. P. Hausmann of Breda. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, where the rosary will be recited that evening at 8. Mrs. Kerigan is survived by three children, Mrs. Stanley (Margaret) Creighton, James and Ann Kerigan, all of Des Moines. Her husband, Louis Kerigan, and a daughter, Mrs. T. E.
