SERVICES HELD MONDAY FOR STEVE BURKE Steve Burke died in Mercy Hospital, Davenport, Friday morning, April 28. He had been in the hospital since March 3. Funeral services were held in Sacred Heart Church Monday at 9:30 a.m., Rev. P.J. Budrea officiating. Pallbearers were: George Burke, Leon McGarry, Arnold Anderson, William Dolan, John McGarry, Charles Hunter, and Eugene Burke. Steve, son of the late William and Elizabeth Hanrahan Burke, was born in Charlotte, October 29, 1906. He married Marguerite McGarry at Villa Nova Aug. 10, 1931. Survivors include his wife, two sons, Ramon of Elwood and Charles of DeWitt; two daughters, Mrs. Martin Connell of Welton, and Mrs. Karen Gohlman of Lost Nation; four sisters, Mrs. Nellie Dolan of DeWitt, Mrs. Ida Wolfe of Lost Nation, Mrs. Dollie Brown of Penfield,IL, and Mrs. Mary Hunter of Davenport; four brothers, John of Clinton, William of Oakland,CA, Martin and Thomas of DeWitt; and twelve grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers and sisters. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus at DeWitt, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, he had been an agent for American Mutual Insurance Company for 10 years, was on the county zoning commission, had been active in 4-H work and was a farm operator.
