Hiawatha Ray E. Hayward, 75 of 32 Aloha Dr., died Friday, May 19, 1995, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, after a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, where friends may call from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev John Gossman will officiate. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, with military services. Survivors include his wife, Cathryn; a son, Tracy and wife Bev of Center Point; two daughters, Jolene Schulte and husband John of Walford, and Mary Kay Drees and husband Dan of Durango; three sisters, Sybil Simonds and Ruth Hayes, both of Cedar Rapids, and Bea Cocking of Marion; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Patti Stuckenschneider; a son, Ray Jr.; and two brothers, Marvin and James. Born Feb. 13, 1920 in Cedar Rapids, Ray married Cathryn Hanson there on March 22, 1941. He was a tile setter for Appleby and Horn, a World War II veteran and a member of VFW Post 5349.
