The following letter was found on Sister Mary Florence's (Catherine Geraldine Fitzgerald) desk on the day of her death: March 15, 1976: Nov. 5, 1964 Dear Sister Florence, It was so nice talking to you - don't feel badly that we didn't get out to see you - actually our time was so short I couldn't even get to two departments I wanted to in Marshall Fields. I hope you had a nice time in Davenport - Yes I DO understand how you can't get around all you would like in a short time. Really the days in Chicago were the only real nice days of my vacation. I know too many people in De Witt and TOO much is expected of me (like a friend calls "I am entering hospital tonite, Vivian, for surgery would you please take me up" (I gave you a sample to show I just can't always say no) But the real blow struck Nov. 2 when the dear lady, who has cleaned for us for 27 years, was found dead - she was 62 so much life and pep - was only here on Friday - The family are now investigating whether it might have been foul play - she had a no good husband - I saw in paper where Carol Torpey has a daughter - I forgot where it said she lived - Well Saturday Blanche & I went to Villa Nova to dinner then we went over to cemetery - and I have no news from our grandparents and date of deaths was all that was given and grandfathers date almost rubbed off: Patrick Lawlor died 1880 Aged 82 yrs. Elizabeth Lawlor died 1862 Aged 40 years Margaret Lawlor died March 20, 19, 1893 Aged 65 years, But right next to our grandparents was a monument:John Lawlor died Feb. 25, 1883 Born in Town of Orchard Parish of Stradbally Queens County - "Stradbally" was what I made out of it - but was almost impossible to make out. I wonder if John & Patrick were not brothers? A family tree would be nice but oh the work - good luck!!! I'm back at work - I sure liked vacation best. It has grown very late. So bye for now. Lovingly, Vivian. [Vivian Lawlor was the letter writer, daughter of Simon P. & Evaline Lawlor, granddaughter of Patrick Lawlor.]
